Something you may not know about Chargebacks:

Post by Snow on 12/4/2013, 9:32 pm

Well, I was digging around in my paypal the other day regarding a chargeback I got after 5 months. The chargeback was for 79.99 (lifetime VIP).

Upon stumbling on it, I saw that NOT ONLY did I lose the $79.99, I was also feed $20 for the chargeback's occurrence.

Looked around online, and found that the credit card companies charge a fee to the merchant when a chargeback case is opened against them and money is reversed (you know, because money moving around online is really hard to do and expensive, and they gotta pay the employee to do this laborious activity...) and many times it is a flat fee, like $20 or $25, regardless of the actual amount in question.

This is incredibly absurd, how the hell are we as merchants supposed to actually protect against "fraud" ...

It is the friggin CC company's responsibility to know if the location or whatever of the CC use is not seeming authorized... and unauthorized payments are THEIR problem, right?!?!?!? that's part of their business?!?! Nope. It's your problem, and, not only that, they gonna charge you for their inconvenience. What about the person who was too loose with their personal information and it got 'stolen??' Nah, let's just tag the seller, luls.

GF.

Anyway, there's just 1 more reason to avoid sketchy kids like the plague when doing RWT. If they charge you back on PP, you WILL lose. I've fought every chargeback up to now, and never won a single one, even when I have proof of IP address and VIP usage on my site. I fought them all just simply to fight them... knowing I'd probably lose em. But now I see that the system actually incentivises you to just go ahead and bend over, because otherwise you're gonna lose more money.

You have no choice but to just accept and refund ASAP so that the CC company doesn't get involved, or you're gonna have to fund those pricks as well.

What a load of crap, so watch out.

Really unfortunate that you lost a chargeback Sad I have heard of the $20 fee before, but I have never lost a chargeback so that has never happened to me luckily. I wonder why you lose every chargeback, that is strange... It has always been corrected once I provide evidence

I am guessing you sold a tangible good? Otherwise, what'd you do to win?

This is why my gold selling is only in small increments. The bigger the increment, the more likely it's either you have to have my trust or you have to take a method that's harder to get past.

The chargebacks are "unauthorized payment."

Even if they put in the notes that they are paying for something they already got, it doesn't matter... they are claiming it wasn't them who paid lol.

Inb4youareallchargedbacknowwithunauth'edpayment.

Sure if they say they are charging back because they never got the goods, and also admit that they were buying rsgp, then paypal wont help since they don't touch that stuff.
